Good news for Limestone Coast renal patients in the 2018 State Budget, with the announcement $2.1 million in funding was being allocated to upgrade and expand the Mount Gambier Hospital's renal dialysis unit.
This is the only renal unit in the Limestone Coast, servicing a catchment of 90,000 people.
These upgrades will bring about a major and lifesaving change for local patients undergoing renal dialysis and, importantly, bring Mount Gambier Hospital's renal dialysis services in line with other regional hospitals in the state.
Troy advocated strongly for this funding, believing residents who choose to make their home in regional South Australia deserve access to equal levels of medical treatment and services as those living in metropolitan Adelaide.
This vital work began in 2019 and when complete, Limestone Coast renal patients can look forward to improved services in the future.
