Respects

Friday August 18, 2023

TODAY marks the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam war, a gruelling 11-year conflict where 60,000 Australians put their lives on the line, with 521 Australians paying the ultimate sacrifice.

Whilst we can never repay the debt owed to those who served in the Vietnam war, I still believe that their memory, their actions, and their sacrifices should not be left forgotten.

50 years after the war, their legacy continues as a reminder of the freedom and sovereignty we have nowadays. An era where we can freely and openly celebrate the peace that they have gifted us and others.

So, today I encourage everyone to celebrate, honour, and remember the sacrifices of our Veterans, whether that be a minute silence, visiting the RSL, or sharing a beer with friends and family.

Thank you to our veterans, may you and your service never be forgotten.
