There is help for bussinesses

SMALL businesses form the backbone of our local economy.

They create jobs, increase local spending, and contribute to the overall economic health of our community.

Even more than that, they are deeply invested in our community. Behind every raffle book, auction night, and charity event is a business owner donating their goods or services.

There is no denying we are currently living through tough economic times.

The cost-of-living crisis is causing us to tighten our belts as our daily expenses continue to increase.

No one feels this more acutely than our local small businesses.

I encourage all business owners who need some support or advice, to reach out for help.

The Limestone Coast Regional Development Group is a local organisation that offers a free support service to local businesses or those thinking about starting a business.

They can help with a range of services from business planning to accessing funding opportunities.

Another local group providing support is the Mount Gambier Chamber of Commerce, a dynamic organisation of like-minded people committed to strengthening our local businesses.

They help businesses connect, collaborate, and contribute to the growth of the local business community.

And for the rest of us, when you can, shop locally. If you have some time this weekend, take a stroll down our main street.

Reacquaint yourself with our local shops and see what they have to offer.

You might be surprised by what you find.

By supporting these businesses, you're not only getting great goods and services, but also helping a friend, family member, neighbour or fellow parent from your local school who has taken the leap of faith to start their own business.

Let's make a conscious effort to keep our town vibrant and thriving by choosing to support our local businesses.
