Mount Gambier on track for influx of new ambos ount Gambier is on target to receive an additional 18 full-time ambos in just over M 18 months.

The additional ambulance officers for the Blue Lake city are part of a recruitment plan by the State Government to employ 350 additional staff across South Australia over a four-year period.

Health Minister Chris Picton told the House of Assembly last week the State Government had identified the Mount Gambier staffing need and had listened to the community.

"Twelve of those will be an additional emergency crew," Mr Picton said.

"Six of those, comprising three paramedics and three ambulance officers, will be an additional regional transfer crew.

"As at the March election, we outlined a schedule for bringing these online because we know that it takes time to recruit the ambos, to train the ambos, to put those in place.

"The time that we said for those to come on board in Mount Gambier was July 2024 and we are on track for that.

"There is a clear need when it comes to Mount Gambier." The Minister was responding to a question posed by Mount Gambier MP Troy Bell.
