The Member for Mount Gambier, Troy Bell MP presented the Friday team of volunteers at Meals on Wheels with the 2018 Premier’s Certificate of Recognition for Outstanding Volunteer Service.

“This is an excellent program that recognises our hardworking volunteers of our community and provides an opportunity for organisations or community groups to have their volunteers acknowledged for their hard work” said Mr Bell.

“The Mount Gambier Meals on Wheels provide wholesome meals and the volunteers are vital in the preparation and distribution of these meals”.

Ella Child’s time and dedication to the organisation was also recognised as she received the Rotary Excellence in Workmanship award.

Mount Gambier Meals on Wheels have been cooking and delivering meals for over 56 years and the branch currently have over 200 volunteers.

“Meals on Wheels is an important service that enables people in the community to remain living at home and maintain their independence” said Lisa Fewins the Branch Support Officer for Mount Gambier and Surround District for Meals on Wheels.

“We were very fortunate that Mr Bell MP took the time to notify our organization of the Volunteer certificate recognition program and would recommend that other organisations apply to have their hardworking volunteers recognized”.
